Travelling by bus - City Transports
City transports
Most of the big Italian cities have a good system of transport.
The most common means of transport are the buses; in some city centres there are typical means of transport: in Bologna the trolley bus, in Venice the water-buses, in Milan and Turin the tram.
The only cities that have a metropolitan net are Milan, Rome, Naples and Turin.
The buses are usually frequent and reliable.
It is possible to get information on the buses routes and on timetables at the offices of Tourism and at the customer service of the local public services.
The ticket for one trip generally has 1 hour validity and costs approximately 1 euro. There are various types of subscription.
For visits of little days local cards offer many facilities.
Tickets cannot be bought on board, but in tobacconists, at newspaper stands, in automatic machines, in the tube stations and in the shops that expose the brand of the Municipal Streetcar Transit Agency. It is necessary to obliterate the ticket as soon as you get on the bus.
In case of non-obliteration, you have to pay a fine.
