National pride

Though Liechtenstein is very small and in many cases connected with and depending on it's neighbouring countries and Europe, most people are proud to live in an independent and sovereign state.
In the 20th century Liechtenstein has developed from a poor agrarian state to  a location of industry and financial services and thus to one of the richest countries in the world. Many people think they owe this wealth to the Royal Family and therefore the Princely Family is very popular.

The people in Liechtenstein are also very proud of the companies who are successful in competition of the global market, like Hilti (construction tools), Hilcona (canned food), Ospelt (meat products) and some more.

Like in every country people are proud of their successful sportsmen. Ski sport is very popular and brought forth the most successfull athletes, Hanni and Andi Wenzel, Paul Frommelt, Marco Büchel. And also like in every country people are proud of their artists. Since Liechtenstein is a small country there are not so many famous artists. The most important artist in the musical history of Liechtenstein was the composer and music pedagogue Josef Gabriel Rheinberger (1839 - 1901).
