The services provided by the office of Social Affairs extend from brief, one-off advice to longertermtherapy. Between these two ends of the scale, everything is possible

• You may turn to the services provides by the Social Services Division if you have personal, social or financial questions
• Advice and support with respect to drawing up solutions to problems relating to personal (family, interpersonal), social (place of work, residence) and financial(debt, low income) matters
• Budgeting advice and settlement of debts
• Provision of economic support, insofar as your income does not cover your minimum standard of living
• Help in finding employment, finding places on employment schemes
• Support with respect to searching for and the provision of housing
• Social insurance information (unemployment insurance, health insurance, AHV/IV [old-age and survivors insurance, invalidity insurance] and others)
• Establishing guardianships and advisors in the adult field

SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH DIVISION 

Children, the young and adults may turn to the services if they have questions and problems in the following fields.

Youth Support:

• Behavioural problems in a child e.g. fears, aggressiveness, bedwetting
• Youth support if the children have difficulties at school
• Separation and divorce: changes in the parental home, visiting and custody rights
• Problems between parents and growing children
• Crises and conflicts in puberty
• Child abuse
• Risk / child neglect
• Financing a childminder or crèche
• Child adoption
• Paternity recognition

Youth Development Bureau:

• Animation of projects
• Specialist support, coordination and advice in the field of youth work at the municipal and naitonal level
• Financial support of persons, organisations and projects in the field of youth work
• Analysis of social developments in youth-related issues, and recommendation of measures

Minors Protection Bureau:

• Implementation of teaching-centred protection for minors
• Instruction, advice and the provision of information in matters relating to the protection of minors
• Overseeing proper adherence to the protection of minors
• Risk behaviour, drug-related behaviour and preventative measures

Services provided by the Therapeutic Services Division

You may turn to our services if you have questions or problems in the following fields:

• Addiction, drug, medication and alcohol dependency
• Partnership and relationship problems, family difficulties
• Depression and despondency, fears and compulsions, other psychological complaints and disturbances
• Development and life crises
• Treatment and therapy options and institutions offering therapies
• Integration support for foreigners
• Treatment of migration-related disturbances and traumas

Interdisciplinary services provided by the office: 

In accordance with its statutory remit laid down in the Sozialhilfegesetz (Social Welfare Act) and in the Jugendgesetz (Youth Act), the Office of Social Affairs has responsibility for the psychological/social welfare of the countries population. The office also provides the following services:

• Co-ordination and supervision of private social welfare, youth support and youth care institutions
• Support of social projects
• PR work and the provision of information to the population on social topics
• Prevention
• Co-ordinating and running projects in a variety of specialist fields (e.g. housing, old age, disablement, unemployment etc.)
• Prisoner care
• Drawing up statements and expert opinions for authorities and courts of law
• Executing measures ordered by the authorities and courts of law
• Representing the state of Liechtenstein at regional and international organisationsand conferences, at the behest of the government

The Office of Social Affairs together with the "Children and Youth Division, "Social Services Division",  "Therapeutic Services Division", "Internal Services Division" is a state institution and provides its services to all residents of the country free of charge.
