Working hours

Slovenia is a social country, so that means we don't (well, most of us) have to work all day long. Work day usually lasts for 8 hours, so that means around 40 h/week. Of course that depends in witch sector you are working in.

Some services were alredy written about but it doesn't hurt to go mention it one more time.

First of all you have to know that Slovenia is very liberal when it comes about working hours. That means almost everything is open all day during the week. But there is a small differance between a weekday and weekend.

The most important thing is probably food. You can buy it all day long, every day. There are also markets open 24h, most of them are in bigger cities, but what has been proved the most efficient are gas stations. To be sure, not every station is open during the night, but those that are, are very weel stocked. You can get fresh bread there, pizza,...

Health - for those who need medical assistance, the system we have is well organized. There are waiting lines and are quite time consuming but generally the tging is working. Hospitals are (of course) open all the time, but visiting hours vary. You have to check seperately as there is no general rule for that. Timetables are usually displayed in the lobby and also there is probablly a security guard somewhere around and he will help you as much as he can. Community health centers are a different story. They are open from 7am-7pm (weekdays) and there is a shift change at 1am, so please be patient those 15-30 minutes. They are open on Saturday as well, but usually only from 7am-1pm. On Sundays they are closed or open for special porpuses only. On duty doctor is available at night also but only in larger center or offcourse emergency room which is almost always full and over crowded so please be careful and take good care for yourself.

And now that what probably intersts you the most - party - clubs, bars... Night clubs are very popular and are generally open from 21pm-5am depending on the license they have. Bars are open all day long. Some close around 11pm, but during weekend ther prolong that time stay open up to 3am. Again - these hours vary, so take them just as a guide not a rule.

Restaurants - as with clubs opening and closing hours are very different. Some open as early as 7am and are open until midnight. But than there are some that open at 10 or 11am and close are 9 or 10pm. So there is no rule for that. But if you stay without dinner, you can always go to the train station (in larger cities as Ljubljana, Maribor...) and you will most certainly ger kebab, pizza, burrito, sandwich...

Bank - as previouslly written, banks are usually open from 08:30am to 12:00 and from 3:00 to 5:00pm in the afternoon. And you have to be warned, that is not valid for all the banks.

Post office - closing hours vary, but most usually opening hour is 8am. In larger cities closing time will be probably 8 or 9pm, but in smaller city it can be even 2pm, so be careful. Sarutdays are quite the same, from 8am-11 or 12. Sundays postofficees are closed.

Pharmacy - in every larger city there is on duty pharmacy, open 24h. Others are opened very differently. From 7 or 8am to 6, 7 or 7:30pm.

As you can see there is no general rule for these opend hours so please check the site below ar ask a friend who might know when something closes or opens.
