Residence permit
Eu-citizens can enter the country with a valid identity document or passport. If the visit lasts up to 3 months they must register at the nearest police station, if longer than 3 months, it's required a residence permit.
Permits can be obtained from the administrative unit in the area in which they will reside. Citizens of EU Member States can obtain residence permits for the purpose of study on the basis of:
- - avalid personal identity documentor passport,
- - evidence of enrolmentin an educational institution,
- - health insurance,
- - sufficient fundsfor living; these must be higher than the level below which the host country approves social assistance to its citizens. In view of the practice of the Court of the European Communities,for students a declaration by them that they have sufficient funds for living is acceptable.Residence permits are issued for the period of study or for amaximum of one year, and may be extended if the course of study lasts more than one year.
- - Non-EU citizenswho come toSloveniafor the purpose of study, specialization, professional enhancement or practical training are giventemporary residence permits.
Applications for temporary residence permits for the purpose of study are submitted by the candidate themselves or their authorized representative at the competent diplomatic or consular office of the Republic of Slovenia abroad, where issued permits are also personally delivered.
Temporary residence permits for the purpose of study are issued on the basis of:
- evidence of acceptance for a course of study, education, specialization, professional enhancement or practical training·
- notarized photocopy of a valid passport,
- evidence of adequate health insurance,
- evidence of sufficient funds for living during the period of residence in Slovenia,·
- proof of no conviction in the country of permanent residence.
