Temporary Students Jobs during the Holidays

It is possible to work on a special student contract during the school holidays. In order to be able to do a student job, you need to be between 15 and 24 years of age and registered at an institution. The contract has to be limited to the Luxembourgish school holidays and working hours must not be ouside the period from 6 am to 8 pm. Students must not work on weekends or on public holdays. There are however several exceptions to this rule. please click on the link. The salary for students is fixed according to the age of the student and must not exceed 80% of the minimum wage. Be careful: if you are working more than 2 month and are paied more than 80% of the minimum wage, your parents might lose your child benefits.Student jobs can be found in every sector, it is up to you to decide what kind of job you want to do. Start early with your research, so that you will be sure to have a job during the holidays. In order to apply you have to send your CV and a motivation letter to your prospective employer. CVs and motivation letters should be written in French, German or Luxembourgish.The scholars, or students who obtain a student job by the means of a temporary agency, must sign an ordinary contract of employment regulated by the legislation of employment. The wages obtained by the student cannot be lower than the minimum social wages. Working abroad

You want to work outside the Garnd-Duchy? The majority of student jobs are in fields such as: tourism, agriculture, teaching or trade. Other sectors and opportunities can emerge randomly. A guide, "Les guides du Job-Trotter", an incomparable information source, proposes tens of thousands of training courses and jobs on the five continents. You have two possibilities: either to acquire one (at the cost price) on your own premises, or to consult it on the spot at the Youth Information Center. Other publications, such as the "Summer Jobs", or the "Newsletter" of the Teli Club (www.teli.asso.fr) also provide you with information about the possibilities of working abroad and can be consulted at the Youth Information Centre. Of course, other tracks to find your job abroad exist: please consult the catalogues of the travel agencies, write to hotels and propose your candidature. Once you have found your job and before leaving the country, get some more information about visas, work permits, social security, insurances, lodging etc. The Embassies and Consulates, as well as the Centre Commun de la Sécurité Sociale should provide you with the necessary information.

Remedial Courses

A good way of earning money as a student are remedial courses. The Youth Information Centre has a folder gathering all remedial courses on offer. Don't hesitate to publish your advertisement! The folder can be freely consulted, so that people in need may find a solution to their problem.
