Sightseeing

Nature. Photo by Jaana FedetoffSights of Finland vary a lot depending on at which side of the country you are located and which season it is. There are castles, statues and restored old towns that tell a lot about the Finnish history.

During the summer Finland offers you several festivals. You can join various types of festivals, spend time in the cottages. If you don`t have a friend who owns a cottage do not worry there are also services where you can rent a cottage. Picking berries and mushrooms, going to camping, hiking, spending time near the lake, sea or river are the most common summer activities.

During winter time you can visit the world’s largest snow castle in Kemi, where you can also spend one of your chilliest nights in the snow hotel or even get married in the ice chapel. As well as going to ski in Finnish skiing resorts and traveling to Lapland for visiting Santa Claus`s Park and Village are the recommended winter activities.

All season there are plenty of activities organized locally. There are museums, exhibitations; concerts are avaliable to visit all seasons. Local youth information services or local tourist information points are always great places to consult. Of course you should never forget to ask others. People might have very good tips to give you. Be active and do not miss anything.
