Public holidays in Austria 2010
On public holidays civil service departments and banks are closed, as well as most supermarkets and shops.

| 1 May: | Labour Day |
| 13 May: | Ascension Day |
| 23 - 24 May: | Whitsun (= Pentecost), (Sunday and Monday) |
| 3 June: | Feast of Corpus Christi |
| 15 August: | Assumption Day |
| 26 October: | Austrian National Day |
| 1 November: | All Saints' Day |
| 8 December: | Feast of the Immaculate Conception |
| 25 December: | Christmas Day |
| 26 December: | Boxing Day |
As you can see public holidays are heavily influenced by important Catholic holidays.
School holidays
Summer Holidays: July till September (beginning and end vary a little bit in the different federal states);
Christmas Holidays: 24 December till 6 January;
Semester break: one week in February (beginning and end vary in the different federal states);
Easter Holidays: Palm Sunday till Tuesday after Easter Monday
