Police / Help to victims
Police
You can lodge a complaint with the police in case of theft or aggression. In emergency cases, call 101. You can call your local police station (the number is in the directory) for further information or less urgent matters.
There are police services for each municipality and you can contact the police headquarters in towns. You can also lodge a complaint if you have been a victim of an offence. The police will then write a police statement (Proces-Verbal). This is an official form that comprises the statement and other information as regards the offence. Two copies will be made. You will keep one copy.

Victim services
If you are having difficulties in coping with an accident or an aggression, you may want to contact the Victim Services. The police can help you find the closest service. In the French speaking part of Belgium, you can phone the Service l'aide aux victimes: 02 537 66 10.
In Flanders, these services (Diensten Slachtofferhulp) are all centralised at the Steunpunt Algemeen Welzijnswerk: 03 322 23 13.
