In this part, we will present you some of the most interesting and most visited destinations in Montenegro. If you have enough time, we recommend that you visit each of these destinations, and if you don’t, then any selection cannot be a mistake, but rather a marvelous experience. Each of these parts of the country contributes to its beauty.

Boka Bay

Boka Bay, Bay of Kotor, is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. It consists of four connected straits. From all sides, Bay of Kotor is surrounded by cliffs, which are reflected in the blue water of the Adriatic Sea. Bay of Kotor decorated seven islands: St. Marko, Mamula, Gospa od Skrpjela, Sv. Djordje, Milosrda, Island of flowers and Mala gospa. On the way via the Bay of Kotor, there are lot of cities and small historical places with their own stories waited to be told to foreign visitors. Among them, is Kotor, city of World Cultural Heritage, with lots of legends, myths, churches, cathedrals and Old Town that is its special part and that has been drawing attention of all people passing through Montenegro. In this Bay, there are three towns and various small places tacked in it waiting for you to come and discover it.

Lovcen - Mausoleum

Lovcen Mountain rises above the coastal Bay of Kotor at 1749m above sea level. This mountain range has an important role in the lives of the Montenegrin people. Lovcen is a symbol of statehood and national identity. Lovcen Mountain was proclaimed a national park that includes the highest and central part Lovcen massif. The highest peaks are Stirovnik (1749m) and lacustrine top (1657m) where the mausoleum of Petar II Petrovic Njegos, one of the greatest writers, thinkers and statesmen of Montenegro. Lovcen possesses valuable rich architectural heritage and there you can pass through numerous old Montenegrin villages and rural parts and be welcomed in one and each of them by local people. One of the valuable sacred monuments is also Njegusi village, the birthplace of Njegos, which is located on the old road from Kotor to Cetinje. You can go there and eat very specific ham and cheese of Njegusi. Also, we recommend the ethno village in Njegusi where you can find delicious food and service.

Ostrog - monastery

This monastery is situated high above the plains of Bjelopavlici, and is carved in the rock. Ostrog monastery was founded by Metropolitan Vasilije (Basil) in the seventeenth century. The most impressive part of the monastery is Gornji Ostrog. Two small churches are located there: the upper church dedicated to Holy Cross and the lower church at the top monastery dedicated to the Virgin. Ostrog is daily visited by people of all religions and nationalities, from all parts of the world. This sanctuary is one of the most visited in the Christian world. Also this monastery is related to a handful of interesting stories that you hear from the people there. It is worth mentioning that, since a large number of people visit it, there are organized bus/taxi tours from almost every city in the country.

Skadar Lake

Skadar Lake is the largest lake in the Balkans. Its uniqueness and beauty is reflected in the wealth of flora and fauna. Skadar Lake is a significant habitat for aquatic birds. Rare pelican is a trademark of this national park. The average depth of Skadar Lake is 6m and, as some parts of the bottom are below sea level, in some places reaches depths up to 60m. Such places in the Skadar Lake are called the "eye". The coast of Skadar Lake is picturesque and abounds in peninsulas and bays, which are wetlands type. Skadar Lake hides numerous endemic species of flora and fauna. It is embellished with hills, small islands, covered with wild rosehip and cassia. Skadar Lake is rich in cultural and historical monuments which are scattered over a large part of this national park. Small abandoned fishing settlements that are located close to the water also represent exceptional cultural heritage. Skadar Lake by Ramsar Convention 1996th was enrolled in the World list of Wetlands of International Importance.
If you decide to spend a day on the lake, you can enjoy great restaurants with delicious fish specialties and you can drive on one of the sightseeing boats. 

Durmitor – national park

Because of its indescribable beauty and untouched nature, Durmitor was, in 1952, declared a national park. National park of Durmitor spreads from mountain massive of Durmitor, the canyons of Tara, Susica and Draga, to canyon’s valley of Komarnica. Leviathan Durmitor abounds in imposing mountain peaks and numerous glacial lakes that are surrounded by rich pine forests. Fast and clear rivers gave Durmitor magnificent canyons, among which stands out Tara canyon as one of the most beautiful in the world. Flora and fauna of Durmitor attract many nature lovers. Durmitor is included in the World Natural Heritage.

Tara - river and canyon

Tara is wild and wildly beautiful, the second by highness in the world, behind Colorado. For centuries, this "Tear of Europe" gets this priceless work of art values, creating so many narrow and breathtaking holes. Waterfalls and calm parts of some of the parts of Tara River are leaving the impression of ferry tales. The shores of the river are overgrown with vegetation; especially black pine trees old up to 400 years. This indocile river invites tourists to enjoy her adventurous spirit and spend unforgettable moments while rafting. Tara and Tara canyon were declared World Natural Heritage.
