National Pride

       The issue of national pride is a tricky one for Germany.  After the Nazi regime, Germans felt like showing a love for Germany was somehow affiliated with this terrible history. Until just recently, it was a rare occasion to see a German flag flying. German patriotism is making a comeback, however, and Germans are remembering that it is ok to feel proud of their country. At the 2006 World Cup, Germany began their return to patriotism and I feel certain this trend will continue to grow. Being proud of what you are and your country is very different from any neo-nazi sentiments.
