If you are a victim

In case you will fall a victim of crime, refer to police. Emergency telephone numbers are:

158 (Police of the Czech Republic),

112 (integrated rescue system – fire brigade, ambulance, police)

156 (Municipal police).

Criminality is influenced by many factors. One of them is high concentration of people in shopping centres, on the streets and while sight-seeing. In Prague is recorded crime extreme within the frame of the Czech Republic. Re-increase of  pick pockets happen the most often. We recommend you to take heed of pickpockets (e.g. in transportation means) and do not put important documents and money at the same place.

Lost and founds:

All municipal authorities within the territory of the Czech Republic accept founded things. A citizen owes the duty to report some lost property without needless delay, failing which unauthorized property relation. Registration office will fulfill with a finder the finding report and will give over letter of acknowledgement about taking lost property.

Blocked credit card:

It is possible to receive cash by means of payment cards EuroCard, MasterCard,VISA, Cirrus, American Express etc. in cash machines, banks and exchange-offices in the Czech Republic. You can pay by them at hotels, in shops, at petrol pump stations and other commercial places. The network is extending constantly.

If somebody steals your wallet with your payment card, the best is to call as soon as possible to a bank, which has issued you the payment card and to block the card as soon as possible. Banks charge a fee for that. Blockage rates of payment card largely differ. It pays off to have small cards with telephone numbers by you, at which you can “block your cards”.
