Higher education
There are no exams as such to enter a university in Belarusright now. Traditional exam system has been changed for testing a few years ago, and now everyone, who tries to get into university, has to pass several tests on different subjects.
The system of higher education in Belarusis rather different from European or American one. There is no two-level system, and students can obtain a bachelors and/or masters degree only at very few faculties. Mostly they have to study for five years to obtain a diploma. Then some of them do postgraduate studies.
In Belarusone can study in the higher education establishment for free, or paying half or full cost, depending on the results of their entrance exams. Commercial and non-state owned universities and colleges are never free. Second higher education is also paid. In state-owned higher education establishments students with good grades get scholarships, which are not large, however.
In Belarusone can study part-time, or do evening courses. Mostly this is for people already involved in some kind of work who want to get more relevant professional knowledge.
Diplomas of Belarusian universities are not widely acknowledged throughout Europeor world, however they have some weight in the CIS states.
