Climate
The latitude, the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and the disposition of the landscape explain the oceanic dominance of French climate, characterised by the instability of the types of weather, the low level of temperature differences and the relative abundance and frequency of precipitation. The harshness of the winter rises however towards the inland, while Southern France has a Mediterranean climate marked above all by the warmth and the dryness of the summer.
