In case of illness
Before you travel to Finland make sure that have an insurance that fully covers in case of illness or accident. If you are an EU citizen, you should obtain the European health insurance card before your travel. In an accute case of illness, you should contact the local health care centre and on the evenings and during weekends the local emergency room.

In case of emergency
The Emergency number is 112. You can call this number from any phone for free. 112 is the national phone number for all emergency services, including police, and it does not require an area code, regardless of what kind of phone you're using. The number works on any mobile phone, whether it is key locked or not, and with or without a SIM card. If a cell phone challenges you with a PIN code, you can simply type in 112 as a PIN code - most phones will give a choice to call the number.

Embassies in Finland
If you have lost your passport, or it has been stolen or you have been robbed you should first contact the local police as soon as possible and then your home country's embassy . This you should also do in any other difficult situation concerning your safety. Not every country in the world has an embassy in Finland, but in that case the you will be directed to contact the nearest one.
